Theo Pippins, Graduate Research Assistant

Theo Pippins conducts quantitative research on students’ transition to college, course-taking, and transfer pathways between two-year and four-year institutions. At CCRC, he is working on a Mellon-funded project that examines how humanities and liberal arts coursework in community college influences bachelor’s degree attainment.

Prior to joining CCRC, Pippins held fellowships at Williams College and the American Economic Association. Most recently, he worked with the NYC Department of Education as a high school math teacher at Expeditionary Learning School for Community Leaders, a teacher mentor and ambassador at NYC Men Teach, and a quantitative and analytics consultant at the Research and Policy Support Group.

Pippins is a PhD student in economics and education at Teachers College, Columbia University. He holds a BA in economics from Williams College and an MS in education from St. Johns University. His research interests include socioeconomic and race disparities in application to and enrollment at selective colleges, higher education policy, and noncognitive skill development.
